Complete Story: The Memory of Shakespeare: pdf

In this story, which was to be the last one he ever wrote, Jorge Luis Borges once again develops on the relationship between the author as a thinking, feeling - and recollecting - individual and his writing. The story can be read either as pure fantasy or as an exploration of his dictum that any person who recites a line from Shakespeare is William Shakespeare. Also provided is an ‘Afterword’ in which the translator reflects at length upon the story.
