Phalanx is a platform for debate and a difficulty with such platforms is the notion of ‘authority’. Is the person contributing to a debate ‘authorized’ to do so? This question is legitimate so long as information is the key because the information must be reliable. Phalanx, by and large, will play down the emphasis on information and will engage in debate based on information already in the public space. That being the case, it invites contributions (essays, letters and responses) from every kind of reader on any broadly pertinent issue today, with the natural rider that the contribution must engage seriously with the issue and should be argued convincingly. |
